1. Introduction

Welcome to SafeSpend. By using our website (safespend.co.uk) or our Android application, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use our services.

2. We Are Not a Bank (No Financial Advice)

SafeSpend is a budgeting and financial clarity tool. We calculate your "Honest Balance" and "Safe to Spend" numbers based on the data provided by your bank and your own inputs.

• We do not hold your money.
• We do not provide financial, legal, or tax advice.
• You are solely responsible for all financial decisions you make.

3. Bank Connections (TrueLayer)

To provide automatic transaction tracking, SafeSpend connects to your bank accounts using TrueLayer, a regulated Open Banking provider.

• These connections are strictly read-only.
• We cannot initiate payments, move money, or view your banking passwords.
• You can revoke our access to your bank at any time from within the SafeSpend app or your bank's own dashboard.

4. Accuracy of Information

While we strive to ensure our calculations are 100% accurate, the information displayed in SafeSpend depends entirely on the speed and accuracy of the data sent by your bank via Open Banking. We are not liable for overdraft fees, missed payments, or financial losses resulting from delayed bank syncs or reliance on our estimates.

5. Community Labelling

When you rename a transaction, the new "clean" label is shared anonymously with the community to help classify similar transactions for others. By submitting a label, you grant us a non-exclusive right to use that translation across our ecosystem. Your personal details are never attached to these labels.

6. Advertising and Monetization

We use Google AdSense to serve advertisements on certain pages of our website to keep our services running. By using this website, you acknowledge that Google and its partners may use cookies to serve personalized ads. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

7. Termination and Account Deletion

You can terminate your use of SafeSpend at any time. Inside the app, you have access to a "Danger Zone" where you can permanently delete your account, instantly severing all bank connections and wiping your data from our servers.

We also reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to SafeSpend if you violate these terms or abuse the platform.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via the app or email. Continued use of SafeSpend after any changes indicates your acceptance of the new terms.
